The Fair Work Commission (FWC) announced it was conducting a review of modern awards after recieving a request from the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations on the 12th of September 2023.
Shortly thereafter, the FWC announced as part of its Modern Awards Review 2023-24, it would look at how to make the most of commonly-used awards easier to use without reducing entitlements for works. The awards listed for review were:
– Children’s Sevices Award 2010.
– Clerks – Private Sector Award 2020.
– Fast Food Industry Award 2010.
– General Retail Industry Award 2020.
– Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020.
– Restaurant Industry Award 2020.
– Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
Subsequently, AWCCs Modern Awards Joint Advisory Committee made the following second submission to the FWC and expanded upon its original submission (from 60 to 118 pages) with recommendations to improve all aforementioned awards.
